How To Get There
Sat Nav
If using a sat nav, the address is Fleet Road, Aldershot, GU11 2HL
By Car
Leave the M3 at junction 4 and take the A331 Aldershot.
After approximately 5 miles, take the A323 Aldershot turnoff. Follow signs for Aldershot town centre A323.
Carry straight on until you get to the Naafi (Burger King) roundabout. Take the 3rd exit. Burger King restaurant is on your right.
At next roundabout turn right, A323 Fleet.
At large Wellington Roundabout, take the 3rd exit, Farnborough A325.
After a short distance turn left, A323 Fleet. Potters International Hotel is on the corner.
At next junction, turn left into Fleet Road, GRIM parking and course is half a mile on the left.
By Train
Exit Aldershot Station and walk straight on down Station Road (following signs for Information Centre) until you reach a set of lights. Turn right.
This road leads to the Naafi roundabout. Follow 'By Car' instructions from there.
Distance from train station is 2.5 miles. There is a taxi rank outside station. Please allow enough time for your journey. We suggest that you arrive at least an hour before the event.
Bike Numbers
Please collect your number for your bike from the Information marquee located within the start / finish. The bike number will be the same as your race number.
Helmets
Helmets are compulsory and MUST be worn throughout the cycle section of the event.
Tyres
The terrain is rough and we had a good number of punctures in previous years. Please ensure your tyres are in good order and correctly inflated. Might we suggest using puncture resistant tyres for this event?
Punctures
There have been a number of punctures in previous years and entrants managed to mainly fix their own bikes, however, we do have a bike repair service at the start / finish area. You should carry a cycle repair kit with you.
Parking
There are plenty of parking spaces available at the site. Please note that while we can park you right at the venue, there is only one entrance and exit so there might be a short queue while you exit the site.
Information
There will be an information marquee within the start / finish area.
Baggage
We cannot fully guarantee the security of your bag. Given that you will be able to drive right up to the start / finish area, we feel it is safer if you lock all kit and valuables in your vehicle.
Car Keys - If you wish to leave your car keys somewhere secure, please take them to the information marquee where they will be tagged with your race number. All keys will be kept secure for you to collect after the race. You must have your race number with you to collect your keys.
Changing
Men and Women's changing marquee will be available. You should arrive in your running clothes but please bring another complete set of warm clothing with you. Do not go home in any wet clothing. Please note, there are no showers.
What to wear?
Clothing - Your choice of competitive clothing is a personal one but hopefully you’ll have a good idea of what you’re going to wear for both the run and on the bike. If a complete beginner, you may wish to consider wearing synthetic clothing both T-shirt or long sleeve shirt, and some running tights on your legs. The materials should ideally wick away sweat and dry quickly when wet. Remember, cotton gets heavy when wet.
Footwear - Off-road running shoes would be ideal for the terrain but if not, normal road shoes.
Course
The land is used as an army vehicle testing area so expect it to get interesting. You will run on a mixed terrain and you'll get wet. The bike route will be 2 laps of a 10k loop that includes a rocky circuit, sand dune and sandy paths, a hill circuit, moguls and some water. Be prepared to get off your bike and carry it in sections – this is a GRIM Duathlon!
